Thousands of footsteps
Full UCS and Soundminer Metadata
As much as I love what great foley artists bring to a project, sometimes you need the realism and natural character that only outdoor recorded footsteps can bring. First is a wide variety of snow, ice and slush steps recorded in the Scottish Highlands Cairngorms National Park. Soft and powdery, crunchy and crispy, icy and cracky, dry and wet, I went for many surface and performative variations.
Next are thousands of real steps on forest tracks, foliage, gravel, wet ground, loose stones and wet sand. Supplementing the Scotland recordings are a series of bone dry forest tracks in Alentejo, Portugal. Clean recordings with natural acoustic resonance, almost no ambient noise and realistic weight made by recording myself with onboard and fixed microphones. It also features natural stops, jumps and skids and some bonus ice stress elements.
